Stretched Textures & Mapping

By default, most non-abstract materials with patterns like bricks or tiles utilize UVs as the coordinate system for material mapping. However, you can override this vector to correct texture stretching, as demonstrated below.

In this example, the texture appears stretched because the plane is four times larger on the X-axis than on the Y-axis.

To correct the aspect ratio, replace the coordinates with a UV map using a Mapping node with the X scale set to 4.
