Place on Surface

The Place on Surface mode is used for assets meant to be attached to other objects. It allows you to precisely position and align generators to the surface of a target object.

Useful for: * Screws, Nails, and Buttons * Circular Array * HUDs and UI elements * Any detail that needs to align with surface normals

Interactive Placement

When you select a Place on Surface asset, it will follow your cursor and automatically snap to surfaces and rotate to align with the face normals of the target.

Controls

While placing the asset, you have the following interactive options:

  • CONFIRM: Left Click to finalize the placement.
  • CANCEL: ESC to stop and remove the asset.
  • RESIZE: SHIFT + MOUSE WHEEL to scale the element.
  • ROTATE: CTRL + MOUSE WHEEL to rotate the element around its local normal axis.
  • Machinegun Mode: M to toggle machinegun mode. This allows you to keep placing instances of the asset without having to re-select the asset.

Automatic Parenting

Once placed, the asset is automatically parented to the target object, ensuring it stays in position even if the base object is moved.
