Slow Viewport / Eevee Performance
Why are Procedural Materials Slowing Down My Viewport/Renders?
This guide addresses the common issue of unexpected slowdowns and details the solutions provided by the addon.
The Core Problem: Eevee vs. Cycles
In 99% of slow performance cases, you are viewing a Cycles-optimized material in an incompatible mode (Eevee).
- Eevee's Limitation: Eevee is a real-time engine that is significantly slower than Cycles at calculating complex, detailed procedural materials. It will always be super slow when handling the high-fidelity node setups found in Sanctus Library.
- The Mix-Up: Even if you have Cycles selected as your primary render engine, remember that the "Material Preview" viewport mode still uses Eevee for display.
Sanctus Library Failsafe
Starting in recent versions of Sanctus Library, a new "fail safe" mechanism was introduced to avoid this bad experience. Read about it here: Incompatible Render Engine
